shaken off elsewhere in the worl​d​
has blossomed
by my door steps –
I know, you aren’t here to stay

"This small-scale struggle/war between the man-made construction ("paved front yard," the common neighborhood eyesore [which is mainly built for more parking space] in North American suburbs) and the will/power of Mother Nature (embodied in a poppy) is comically portrayed through this vivid image of a poppy "peeping" through a crack".
